"Missing Mountains" in Berea!

The Second Monday Book Club meets the second Monday of each month at Madison County Public Library, 200 Harrison Road, Berea.  The club meets from 6:30 to 7:30 and participants discuss a book that all have read.  Discussions are free and open to anyone age 17 and above, and there is no need to sign up beforehand.  Simply read, and come to the discussion!  You may be able to check out one of the library’s copies of the month’s selection to read before the discussion; other area libraries or bookstores may also have copies.  On November 13 we will be discussing Missing Mountains: We Went to the Mountaintop But it Wasn't There, edited by Kristin Johannsen, Bobbie Ann Mason, and Mary Ann Taylor-Hall. This book addresses one of the most serious environmental threats to our nation -- mountaintop-removal mining. In this collection of essays, fiction, and poetry, 35 Kentucky writers explore all aspects of mountaintop removal in Kentucky. A complete listing of the 2006 Second Monday Book Club selections can be found at the library’s website (www.madisonlibrary.org).  For more information contact Abbie Harris, Branch Librarian, at 986-7112.
